We were going into the treasure hunting business. My parents were pretty sure we were going to find a gold doubloon on a Texas beach. We just had to buy a metal detector first.
This whole metal detector conversation came about because I found a book in the garbage. Now it’s not like I found a book full of maggots in a dumpster with fish parts and banana peels. It’s a way better story than that. (But since I try and limit my posts to under 2000 words – you can read about the boxes of BRAND NEW books I found in the garbage at another time.)
In this pile of literature was a book about metal detecting people who found rings, coins, antique bullets, and gold doubloons using their metal detectors in places people would never think to look for treasure.
